Music to Young Ears
Valdres Sommersymfoni’s artistic director, violinist Guro Kleven Hagen, are teaming up with partner NRKM to create an education resource tailored to the needs of young ears 7 to 15 years old. This will be led by NRKM who have an extensive education programme across the entire year including Northern Europe's largest course for classical music talents. The aim of Music to Young Ears is to use music to raise awareness and create empathy towards migration and sustainability and to use these topics to engage with contemporary classical music. It will also aid teachers to engage with contemporary classical music.
Several packages will be created as follows:
1 hour package for age ranges 7-15 as a part of a music lesson
3 hour package for ages 7-15 as a part of a music lesson
5 hour package for ages 7-15 as an interdisciplinary package: subjects include music, science (nature), geography and language.
The concept of the package will be developed in line with curricular requirements for music in the 4 countries. Sthe new works of music will form part of the education package. The final packs will come in 4 languages (Dutch, English, Norwegian and Swedish) and will be launched in September 2024. The education packs alongside the programme of new music will also be offered as a complete package to concert halls, music festivals and other musical institutes in Europe.
